Wymondham Friday Market
The town was granted the rights to hold a Friday market and a winter fair by Henry I, confirmed by King John in 1203, and later, after a petition by the burgesses supported by Sir John Clifton, by Henry VI who also granted two other fairs to be held in the spring and autumn. There has been a market every Friday since. With improved road and railway connections in the mid to late 19th century the Friday market is said to have declined but has recovered and continues to thrive today.
